DENVER — Andrea Schumacher Interiors (ASI) is embarking on an exciting venture with the launch of ASI Studio, a long awaited division dedicated to designing boutique hotels, branded residences, and hospitality-driven spaces. Bolstered by years of successful experience in hospitality environments, the initiative reflects ASI’s signature creativity and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship. “We’re continuing to create spaces that are so unexpected, so unique and beautiful that they allow someone to completely let go,” said Matt Bosquez, the newly appointed Chief Operating Officer who will spearhead this initiative.
With two decades of experience in design, development, and construction, Bosquez is well-prepared to lead this new chapter. He has successfully managed a $3 billion real estate portfolio and delivered over 7.5 million square feet of new development. “My first full-time job out of college was working for an interior design shop in Summit County, Colorado,” Bosquez recalled. This early exposure to high-end design helped shape his appreciation for the interplay between aesthetics and construction. “I find a lot of beauty in the combination of design and construction. They’re two very different things. One is aesthetic and one is physical. It’s a fun dichotomy to watch play out over and over again – beautiful design transformed into physical permanence,” he added.
The launch of ASI Studio allows Bosquez and his team to continue to focus on delivering immersive environments that align with ASI’s established reputation for excellence. “Functionality is table stakes for us; good design always begins with expert programming, space planning, and functional layouts,” he emphasized. “We ensure those are perfect so that the rest of the experience can play out as we would hope. Then, the magic happens.”
Aiming to create an immersive experiences for all guests, Bosquez said, “We’re creating environments that allow the guest to take a departure from their normal lives and normal perceptions.” He believes that the design of hospitality spaces should mirror that of homes, where “each space has its purpose and function.” This understanding equips ASI Studio to cater to the unique needs of each project, akin to their approach in residential design.
Among the notable projects within ASI Studio’s portfolio is OROS Crested Butte, situated in Colorado’s premier mountain destination. “It is an awesome responsibility to set the stage properly and bridge the gap between what Crested Butte has been for a lot of people, what it is now, and what it should look like going forward,” Bosquez noted, underscoring the firm’s commitment to crafting spaces that resonate with local culture and history.
With the launch of ASI Studio, Bosquez remains determined to set new benchmarks in the world of luxury design. “Human experience is based around archetypes that exist in architecture and design,” he said, highlighting the importance of familiar elements such as the front porch or kitchen. “These classic components of one’s experience in a home carry even more weight in a hospitality setting.”
